TUAW Mailbag: your iOS 4.1 tips and tribulations

The first one (above) is actually a bug with , although the app was updated yesterday and requires iOS 4.1. As you can see, reader Sean P. is still seeing a glitch in iMovie for iPhone that makes clip trimming a haphazard affair.

Eric B. reports that the headphones he received with his “iphone 2g” (we’re thinking he meant the 3G) now work, whereas before 4.1 but after 4.0 they did not.

John T. tells us “the iOS4.1 upgrade somehow ‘recovered’ clued 2+ weeks of lost voicemails that I really wish I had received, well, 2 weeks ago.” He reports others have seen this as well — have you?

Joseph T. says there’s good news for Bluetooth headset users who jam out on their headsets: “…the new AVRCP profile allows Bluetooth headsets to FINALLY skip forward and rewind.”

A few of us noticed it, but Jonathan L. wrote in to point out the icon for “deleting” an email in Gmail accounts has changed to indicate that you’re not deleting, you’re archiving the email. Instead of a trash can, you now have an arrow pointing to a file cabinet. If you want to go back to trashing email, however, you can set this in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > choose the account (Gmail only) > Turn OFF “Archive Messages.”

Jeff V. reports a welcome enhancement regarding app updates on the phone: “Guys, I haven’t seen anyone cover this yet, nor do I know if it is a really big deal, but now in iOS 4.1 you can download and install more than one app at a time. Up to three at a time from what I see. I noticed this while updating some apps on my iPhone after updating to 4.1. I had twelve updates, told it to download all, and then it started downloading 3 of the apps at the same time (I have a screenshot showing the three blue install bars at the same time). Again, I thought this was nice, and I wasn’t expecting it, so I figured I would pass it along in case you hadn’t noticed.”

Glee’s Matthew Morrison To Cut A Music Album

morrisonmain

Gleeks go crazy, because the dishy actor who plays the altruistic Will Schuester, . Whaaaat? Please God, let this album be better than his fellow cast mate . We totally have a crush on M.M., so we’re really hoping this goes well for him. Then again, Salling is a hottie as well, and his off-screen musical venture wasn’t exactly top notch. Tricky one to call.

Curious to what his music is going to sound like? So are we! Morrison revealed it’s “eclectic.” Uh, we hear warning bells already  because we don’t trust that word. It could mean anything!  He went on to say that the album will have “a lot of stuff that you would find on the adult contemporary charts, but stuff that I hope you’ll hear in the club and you can dance to.” February is when he’s hoping it’ll drop and he’s going full steam ahead saying, “I’m about three-quarters of the way done with the album. During our hiatus was the big chunk of putting it together — it’s full-time ‘Glee’ right now. I’m trying to do it on the weekends.”

So if this tanks, which again, we’re really hoping it won’t, Sue Sylvester’s never going to let him hear the end of it. The stakes are high! Oh and Matt, if you need any extra ladies for your music video to, ya know, dance (and by that we mean writhe) around you or somethin’, call us.

Kristin Cavallari’s Mom Arrested For A DUI, All Kristin Cares About Is A Sandwich

kristincavallari_1

If only our mom was cool (snort) like ’s mother, Judith Spies. K.C.’s rockin’ momma was just arrested for an alleged DUI, with her daughter sitting right next to her. She was busted around 2:15 in the morning in Barrington, Illinois, and apparently it ain’t no big thing for this mother-daughter duo. While her mom Judith was administered a field sobriety test, all Kristen cared about was getting to the nearest Subway to get some grub – after she yelled at the policemen to get her water. Get that? She ditched her mother for a sandwich and screamed at the cops who were arresting her mother. Not because she was mad, but because she was thirsty. It’s such a heartwarming story.

In Kristin’s defense (ha!), she was drunk and couldn’t drive. And screw being arrested, when a girl’s gotta eat… a girl’s gotta eat. Love you, Mom!
